one of KZ’s flagship incenses, an incense made of pure kyara that breaths kyara smoke. No vietnamese nhatrang nor hue fragrantwoods were used as a diluent. you will not find melonskin or vietnamese oud notes, but a deep old, rich, vanillic kyara profile only. this is only achievable with no compremise, 74% kyara, 14% binder and 11% charcoal. it is in my opinion that one should not add kyara to incense blends unless they can be sure they dont mask it and dont end up allowing the nhatrang/hue notes to dominate and render the kyara “invisible”.
The kyara used here is green kyara, and is from kyara bead/carving dust kz has obtained from one of his collaborators in a trade. One gram will be approximately 16-18 sticks.
I had specially done a 0.7mm extrusion for this incense, entirely by hand, this challenged my incense handling/making skills but i’m glad i had been able to do it without much mishaps/breakages. the reason for doing a super ultra thin stick is to enhance the heated scent profile, and also conserve material.
since kyara is very resinous and to be able to do a 0.7mm extrusion, the kyara was watermilled by hand into a paste using a mortar an pestle. once a very fine powder has been obtained, can then one achieve ultra fine sticks without extrusion failure.
